To do this, Speedtest runs its own video sample through the app to measure internet streaming limits. "This means that video can perform very differently than the rest of the things you do online, no matter how fast the download speed of your network." (This right here, folks, is why net neutrality matters and needs to be defended.) "While network speed certainly impacts your video experience, providers routinely prioritize video traffic differently than other traffic," reads the press release. Different speeds for different functions - While you might initially find the new feature redundant given Speedtest's, well, testing of internet speed, Ookla explains that the addition is actually pretty useful in its own right.
